***Addressing the real danger women face everyday for a task they should so easily be able to do.

“Her Walk Home” puts the player as the woman in the situation. The scene opens with her friends telling her to get safe before she begins her walk down the streets. The environment transports the player towards increasingly more threatening areas. All the while, the woman (the player) is getting catcalled and yelled at which furthers the paranoia. The experience is heightened with spacial audio, objects to grab, and signs that portray the inner monologue of a woman in this situation.

The goal is to spread awareness of this daily experience and the real fear experienced. It would put the user in the shoes of a woman, giving just a glimpse into this issue. The hope is to create the uncomfortable.

***Using every element, even the instructions, to set the threatening tone.

  • "I was truly scared while playing it."

    Abby (Age 20)

  • "The sounds really got to me. The spatial audio really made the experience."

    Alex (Age 22)

  • "Between the darkness and the sounds, it felt real. It's how I feel walking home after a night out."

    Kayla (Age 20)

  • "The signs contributed to the emotions and the flow of the game."

    Giulia (Age 21)
